BREAST CANCER AWARENESS

OUR INVOLVEMENTS

In 1998, alpha Kappa Delta Phi launched its first-ever National Service project. Through our 22 chapter effort, we dedicated the year of 1998-99 to Breast Cancer Awareness by educating ourselves, our college campuses, and our communities. Through the efforts of our active sisters and alumnae, we have raised over $250,000 throughout the years for breast cancer research. In addition to raising funds, awareness is spread on all our campus communities through service projects, workshops, informational booths, or forums.

The mission of alpha Kappa Delta Phi's Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign is three-fold:

- To raise funds on a national level to contribute to a non-profit organization dedicated to eradicating breast cancer

- To dedicate at least one Service Event per chapter/colony to Breast Cancer Awareness in October

- To develop a comprehensive page on our national website that provides links to breast cancer resources

OUR BCA RELATED EVENTS FOR FALL 2024

aKDPhi International Foundation

In the past we’ve had an exclusive partnership with AVON Breast Cancer
Crusade. Since 2018, we are a part of the aKDPhi International Foundation, which is a 501©(3) nonprofit organization which allows 100% of our donations to go to various charities of our choosing. In efforts of our 65+ chapters across the nation and in Canada, we, as an organization, dedicate the entire month of October solely to actively fundraise money to donate to the international foundation.

The Stony Brook Alpha Gamma Chapter promotes Breast Cancer Awareness throughout campus by annually hosting events such as the Pink Glow Walk, Zumba in Pink, and our biggest event of the semester: Mr. BCA Pageant Ball. By hosting these events, we encourage students and other organizations to actively engage and educate themselves on Breast Cancer and participate in the fight to end it.

We invite everyone to support our philanthropy and join us at one of our many events we host throughout the month of October! See you there!

AVON WALKS (2014-2017)

Every year since our chapter has been established, we have supported participants in New York City’s Avon Walk by volunteering at cheer stations. In October 2014, we were able to further express our support for our philanthropy by having one of our very own sisters, Jenny Chen, begin a tradition of participating in the walk.  We have made it a chapter effort to help the VP Service of each Fall to raise at least $2,000 so they can partake in the Avon 39 Mile Walk to end breast cancer.
